Remember sneaking into your mom’s jewelry box, the fun of trying all the shinies and wishing they were yours.
I walk down the toy aisle and wish I were a little girl now, with all the dress-up necklaces and sparkling rings. Jewelry I could never afford in real life but could make-believe was real if I was six again.
I have found a love of jewelry that traditionally I should be unable to indulge in. But I’m not really a traditional girl.
I find the sparkle and magic of jewelry in the way it looks not in its cost. The artful way that it hangs on my neck or the way it catches the sun isn’t in how much the piece cost but in the artistry of the piece.
Call it costume jewelry if you want, I call it a work of art.
